NASHVILLE, Tennessee – Nov. 13, 2019 – H.G. Hill Realty Company joined business leaders and elected officials – including Mayor John Cooper and Metro Councilmen Brett Withers – this afternoon for the groundbreaking of Hill Center Greenwood, the company’s $21.8 million multi-use development in East Nashville.

National brands Publix, Starbucks and Chase were announced as tenants for the 72,830-square-foot development that spans 5.3 acres located at the intersection of Gallatin Ave. and Greenwood Ave. In addition to a 31,028-square-foot Publix, the development includes a 2,100-square-foot Starbuck’s building and a 3,350-square-foot Chase building. Across the street at 1108 Gallatin Ave. is a 6,000-square-foot building that will include three retail storefronts.

The project also includes fourteen townhomes that will flank Publix on both sides. Eight units will face Sharpe Ave. and six will front Greenwood Ave. The 2,675-square-foot identical unit layout includes three-bedrooms and four-bathrooms. Exterior building materials are comprised of brick, fiber cement lap siding, and fiber cement panels.

Approximately 219 parking spaces are planned and road improvements include new traffic signalization on mast arm poles with pedestrian signal heads, push buttons, and road markings at Gallatin Ave. and West Greenwood Ave. Road improvements will also include new sidewalks along Gallatin Ave., West Greenwood, Greenwood, and Sharpe Avenues with grass strips included beside all streets.

Publix anticipates opening its 1111 Gallatin Ave. location during the first quarter of 2021. A first for East Nashville, the grocery store will employ approximately 125 associates. “This will be a full-service grocery store with amenities such as grocery delivery service, a pharmacy, online ordering for the deli and bakery departments, fresh fruits, vegetables, meats, seafood and so much more,” said Brenda Reid, Media and Community Relations Manager for the Atlanta Division of Publix. “We look forward to serving our new customers by providing them with the excellent customer service they deserve.”

“Community interest for a Publix has been high in the area and we are thrilled they selected Hill Center Greenwood for their first East Nashville location,” said Jimmy Granbery, Chair and CEO, H.G. Hill Realty Company. “Publix has been a part of the Hill Center family of developments since first opening at Hill Center Belle Meade in 2009 and Hill Center Nashville West in 2010.”

Chase, the U.S. consumer and commercial banking business of JPMorgan Chase & Co. (NYSE: JPM), announced plans earlier this year to open up to 90 of its new retail branches in nine of the top U.S. markets, which includes Nashville. The Hill Center Greenwood location anticipates opening in the second half of 2020.

“Nashville is very important to Chase. Our plans are to open about 20 branches in the Metro area – with another 30 to 40 standalone ATMs that will give Chase excellent coverage of the places where Nashvillians live, work and shop,” said Denise Horvath, head of Chase’s branches in Tennessee. “With that in mind, Hill Center Greenwood will be a great location for us. We look forward to being a part of this exciting new development in East Nashville.”
